IRON MAN THREE REVIEW

When Iron Man first came to the big screen in 2008 I couldn’t picture a better actor than Robert Downey Jr. portraying Tony Stark. Not only does he look like him he breathes life into the marvel character. This see’s him play the character for the fifth time including his cameo in ‘The Incredible Hulk’.
This latest installment sees a change of director. Jon Facreau who directed the first 2 turned down the opportunity to direct again due to other film commitments. But it didn’t stop him returning to play the favorable body guard Happy Hogan. Instead this installment was directed by Shane Black who worked with Robert Downey Jr. In ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He makes Tony Stark face his biggest challenge to date. You’ll also see returning Don Cheadle playing James Rhodes (war machine/iron patriot), Paul Bettany as the voice of Jarvis and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. New additions are Guy Pearce portraying Aldrich Killian, Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin and Rebecca Hall as Maya Hensen.
In this 3rd Iron Man outing we see him up against the terrorist known as the Mandarin. After the events of Avengers, Tony Stark has trouble sleeping which makes him build more suits which causes a friction between him and his love of his life Pepper Potts. With all this happening he has to deal the with his greatest foe The Mandarin. This also sees him more challenged. By that I mean he has to use his ultimate tool to defeat the Mandarin, by using brains. This is his greatest test by far.
Without giving too much away I would say one of the key moments is when Tony Stark wakes up in a snowbound Tennessee realizing he can’t wear his armour. He has to depend on his wits and brains to fight off evil henchmen with the help of a 10 year old boy. This just proves he doesn’t need to have the armor

to be Iron Man because he is Iron Man.
If you grew up reading the comics and watching the cartoons this is definitely a film for you. With a great story with twists and turns along the way with outstanding special effects and even better action sequences this is great film for both adults and kids.
My rating 10/10.
Also if you’ve not seen this yet I recommend you stay till the end of the credits.

EVIL DEAD REVIEW

 

 

 

Just like the original with the fast moving camera going through the woods so you can see through the demons eyes, this reboot does give some sort of trueness. Even with a slow start and no ‘Bruce Campbell’ it won’t let you down in blood and gore.

With the replacing title ‘Evil Dead’ the unknown director Fede Alvarez brings a terrifying gore fest to live up to the original. With Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell doing a successful student film in 1983 they were brought back to produce the film. One of their jobs was to pick a director. Just like Sam being unknown in 1983 they brought in the Uruguay director who only done a few films before this to bring freshness, modernisation took a lot of guts.

Again taking place in a cabin David (Shiloh Fernandez) brings his sister Mia (Jane Levy) to help her detox from her drug dependency, with the help of his girlfriend Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci). After Mia complaining about the smell their dog Granpa stumbles across the door to the cellar. David and Eric investigate the damp and dark cellar. When they get down there, they stumble across rotten animal corpses hanging from the ceiling and a book (the book of the dead) wrapped in wires and plastic. Later on Eric curiosity finds himself opening the book. Even though with warning signs he reads messages from the book and summons the demon. Slowly the demon possesses Mia and each character is killed off one by one in glorious death. By the end there is only one left standing. But for how long? 

When I was at a young age I remember watching the original and it was the first horror film I watched. I remember me and my friends hiding behind pillows and having nightmares.

To sum up this movie I say it was well done. Even though the fear factor wasn’t great, you won’t be disappointed in blood and gore. For hard core fans they’ll find themselves disappointed in not seeing Bruce Campbell. But remember this is a reboot. For people who haven’t seen the originals you will really enjoy and I would highly recommend on watching the originals. But for hardcore fans who haven’t seen it. Wait till the end of the credits.

FEEL THE DARK

My soul was lost to me a long time ago. Like a wasteland planet with no water the loneliness of known I pushed my friends and family away I had no one to turn too. I so wanted to spill my problems onto some new friend but I’d just push them away too.
Every Friday I would go to a nightclub so I wouldn’t feel completely alone. I’d order a nice cold pint of lager and stand in the shadows. Watching people kissing, dancing and gossiping would make me feel a sense of theirs still life out there.
When I looked out into the dance floor I was stuck in a trance. A dark haired beauty with skin as white as snow flowed with the music. Her dark eyes gripped onto me not letting me go. I found myself moving towards her with no control of my body. As I got up next to her she hooked her arms round me and whispered in a Russian accent, ‘am going to save your life Jack’.
